Yorkshire Water - Water Services Agreement

The contract is a framework agreement covering the West area of the Yorkshire Water region  including major cities such as Bradford, Sheffield, Doncaster and Rotherham. As part of the contract we have to provide 24/7 cover for repairs to burst mains and other customer related problems that occur out of normal working hours.  The scope of the contract is the provision of network maintenance services and customer supplies related work.  This includes the repair and maintenance of Yorkshire Waters Assets and the survey and installation of commercial and domestic water meters.

The framework agreement is structured as an Alliance and we work closely with Yorkshire Water and Morrison Utility Services, their other Alliance contract partner, to ensure delivery of Yorkshire Waters long term objective of having no customer impacting service failure by 2010 and achieving a culture of getting it Right First Time Every Time.

A key aspect of the work is to provide innovative solutions to reduce supply disruptions, excavations size and minimise traffic disruption. This supports Yorkshire Waters vision of Zero complaints in the eye of the customer.

H2O's Planning & Scheduling team are now co-located at Yorkshire Waters Regional Operations Control Centre in Bradford.  All work is carried out using a common IT platform and mobile working has been implemented to allow work to be received remotely by teams on ToughBooks or PDA's.

The work comprises an approximate 50:50 split between R&M activity and Customer supplies. Metering work includes Domestic Meter Options, Meter Exchanges and New Connections.

As part of our drive to introduce innovative solutions H2O have developed the Stop Tap Adaptor which allows the installation of a meter in an existing Stop Tap Chamber without excavation.
