RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) Valves providing backflow protection of your potable water supply
The RPZ Valve is a device which protects against backflow, providing protection against the contamination of mains cold water supply. RPZ valves are widely used in the UK and are a cost effective solution.
Under the Water Industry Act 1991, a Water Company has the responsibility to supply a wholesome water supply. The property owner has the responsibility to ensure that every water system in the premises contains an adequate device to prevent the backflow of fluid from connections between potable and non potable water supplies. RPZ valves are installed to protect mains water against possible contamination in Category 4 fluids. (toxic substances such as chemicals carcinogenic substances or pesticides).
Typical examples of where RPZ Valves should be fitted are:-
Swimming Pools
Launderettes
Food Processing Plants
Dishwashing facilities in Restaurants, Hotels and Bars
Car washing facilities
The RPZ valve should not be used in conjunction with fluid Category 5 (i.e where there is a risk of contamination from Sewage, Slurry & Toxic waste).
RPZ valves once commissioned require testing on an annual basis by an Accredited Tester. H2O Water Services provides installation, commissioning and testing services across the whole of the UK. We can survey and recommend solutions and quotations for any rectification work needed to comply with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999.
